I currently have availability for evening and weekend bookings. Demand is expected to be particularly high this year, due to the increasing energy costs and families looking to use fireplaces instead of central heating. Did you know that the Chimney Sweep is considered lucky?
Legend has it, if we reach back into British history, that a sweep saved the life of King William from a run away carriage. The King, delighted he was saved, then invited the sweep to his daughter's wedding.
A second legend claims that King George was riding in London, when the horses were startled and the carriage went out of control. The chimney sweep managed to get on the carriage and bring it to a halt, preventing harm befalling the King. The King bowed to the Sweep and declared them all to be lucky. It is also said, that King George invited the chimney sweep to his daughter's wedding, which is why we still have the tradition at weddings to this day. In those times, it was common for passers by to bow or curtsey to bestow luck upon themselves, if they saw a chimney sweep!
The final legend from ages past, is that a sweep was found hanging from a roof after falling during a sweep. A lady saw him dangling from the edge and came to the rescue, pulling him into the house. Despite her reluctant engagement, she fell in love with the Sweep and they became happily married!
